Rolando Guy
Argentinian/Italian Tenor
Born in Buenos Aires and currently residing in Berlin, Germany, Rolando Guy began his musical journey at the National Conservatory of Buenos Aires. He received private vocal training from esteemed maestros such as Luis Bragato, Ricardo Ortale, Garbis Adiamanian, Gustavo Lopez Manzitti, Darío Schmunck, and Victor Torres, all prominent figures at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. He further honed his operatic repertoire under the guidance of Dante Ranieri, Susana Cardonnet, Rozita Zozoulia (Russia), and Marcelo Ayub.

In Berlin, Rolando continued his vocal studies with the renowned tenor Reiner Goldberg and also trained with Uwe Griem, further refining his technique during his time under their mentorship.

Rolando has also studied with tenors Jack Li Vigni (USA) and Francesco Anile (Italy), and in 2017, he participated in the prestigious Javier Camarena Masterclass in Buenos Aires. Notably, Rolando was the only Argentine selected as a finalist for the 2018 Eva Marton Singing Competition in Hungary. His talent also earned him spots in the 2018 Wilhelm Stenhammar Music Competition in Sweden and the XX International Singing Competition of Ciudad de Trujillo in Peru.

In recent years in Berlin, Rolando has expanded his artistic reach, performing with diverse groups and in unique settings. He has been a part of Die Goldvögel, where he engaged in thematic concerts designed to help audiences navigate through grief and loss. Additionally, he has toured extensively across Germany and beyond as a member of The Cast, an innovative opera band that blends classical and contemporary styles.
A passionate advocate for intimate, accessible opera, Rolando has also taken the initiative to organize his own house concerts throughout Berlin. These performances have featured not only opera arias and art songs but also explorations into the popular music of his native Buenos Aires, including the rich tradition of Tango. By blending these diverse genres, Rolando has brought the emotional depth and cultural vibrancy of both classical and popular music directly into the heart of the community, creating a personal and immersive experience for his audiences.

His operatic repertoire includes leading and supporting roles in major productions in Buenos Aires, such as Rodolfo in Puccini's La Bohème, Nemorino in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore, Ferrando in Mozart's Così fan tutte, Danilo in Lehár's Die lustige Witwe, Tamino in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Gastone in Verdi's La Traviata, Borsa in Verdi's Rigoletto, and Basilio in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro.

In addition to his operatic achievements, Rolando has performed numerous recitals, showcasing works by Schubert, Strauss, Rachmaninov, and Liszt, accompanied by pianist Marcelo Ayub, a conductor and pianist at the Teatro Colón. He has also presented song cycles by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, and Schubert with the English choir director and vocal coach John S. Craven.
In his free time, Rolando enjoys dancing Tango.

Sein Talent brachte ihm auch Plätze beim Wilhelm Stenhammar Music Competition 2018 in Schweden und beim XX International Singing Competition of Ciudad de Trujillo in Peru ein.

In den letzten Jahren in Berlin hat Rolando sein künstlerisches Spektrum erweitert und mit verschiedenen Gruppen und in einzigartigen Umgebungen aufgetreten. Er war Teil von Die Goldvögel, wo er in thematischen Konzerten auftrat, die darauf abzielen, den Zuhörern bei der Bewältigung von Trauer und Verlust zu helfen. Zudem tourte er als Mitglied von The Cast, einer innovativen Opernband, die klassische und zeitgenössische Stile verbindet, ausgiebig durch Deutschland und darüber hinaus.

Als leidenschaftlicher Verfechter einer intimen und zugänglichen Oper hat Rolando auch die Initiative ergriffen, seine eigenen Hauskonzerte in ganz Berlin zu organisieren. Diese Auftritte umfassten nicht nur Opernarien und Kunstlieder, sondern auch Erkundungen der populären Musik seiner Heimatstadt Buenos Aires, einschließlich der reichen Tango-Tradition. Durch die Verbindung dieser vielfältigen Genres hat Rolando die emotionale Tiefe und kulturelle Lebendigkeit sowohl der klassischen als auch der populären Musik direkt in die Gemeinschaft gebracht und so eine persönliche und intensive Erfahrung für sein Publikum geschaffen.

Neben seinen Opernerfolgen hat Rolando zahlreiche Liederabende gegeben, in denen er Werke von Schubert, Strauss, Rachmaninow und Liszt präsentierte, begleitet von Marcelo Ayub, einem Dirigenten und Pianisten am Teatro Colón. Außerdem hat er Liederzyklen von Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven und Schubert zusammen mit dem englischen Chorleiter und Gesangslehrer John S. Craven aufgeführt.
In seiner Freizeit tanzt Rolando gerne Tango.
